We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Web Developer to join our team. This role involves creating pixel-perfect, responsive websites with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have expert-level proficiency in front-end languages, a deep understanding of the WordPress ecosystem, and experience with a variety of content management systems (CMS). This role also requires the ability to troubleshoot, optimize for performance, and ensure seamless integrations.

This is a remote position where you will be working 38 to 40 hours on weekdays, with very occasional weekend and overtime work.

Where You’ll Fit In: As a Web Developer, you will transform designs into responsive, high-performance websites using efficient coding practices. You will collaborate with project managers, account managers, and sometimes directly with clients to execute website updates, configure plugins, and troubleshoot issues. While WordPress is the primary CMS, proficiency in Shopify, Squarespace, and other modern systems is a plus. You’ll be responsible for launching websites, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing performance to meet or exceed Google’s speed and core web vitals standards.

Essential Duties

• Implement pixel-perfect, responsive web designs from tools like Figma with precision.
• Write clean, efficient, and high-performance code using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Expertly configure and customize WordPress plugins, including Elementor,
• WooCommerce, and Advanced Custom Fields.
• Optimize website performance, ensuring fast load times, efficient image compression, and adherence to Google’s speed and core web vitals standards.
• Manage website launches, backups, and updates on various hosting platforms.
  Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including broken functionality or plugin conflicts.
• Work on a variety of website updates, including adding new pages and editing content while maintaining design consistency.
• Develop email templates for integration with email platforms.
• Learn and implement new WordPress plugins or CMS tools quickly.
• Work with Shopify, Squarespace, and other CMS platforms as needed.
• Write custom PHP code for WordPress plugins (bonus).
• Ensure new web pages align with existing brand standards and design elements.
• Balance multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Our work weeks typically range between 38 and 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and overtime. We use a timer to track our work hours, which is crucial for client billing, setting pricing, and reviewing job profitability. This process is mandatory at Connective.

Education, Skills, and Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• Expertise in front-end web development with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Proficiency in the WordPress ecosystem, including plugin configuration and customization.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design principles.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving website issues.
• Ability to implement and optimize for Google’s speed and core web vitals standards.
• Familiarity with other CMS platforms such as Shopify and Squarespace.
• Experience developing custom WordPress plugins using PHP.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques, including image compression and caching strategies.
• Ability to develop email templates for email platforms.
• Basic design sensibility to maintain brand and design consistency across web pages.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
