We are seeking a visionary and highly skilled Art Director to oversee and elevate the quality of all creative outputs. This role combines leadership, creativity, and hands-on design expertise to ensure that all deliverables meet and exceed client expectations. The Art Director will coach and inspire the design team, manage multiple projects, and serve as the creative guardian for maintaining brand alignment and visual storytelling.

This is a remote position where you will be working 38 to 40 hours on weekdays, with very occasional weekend and overtime work.

Where You’ll Fit In: As an Art Director, you will lead the creative team, ensuring the highest quality standards for all projects. You’ll conceptualize big ideas, guide the design team, and ensure brand consistency across print, digital, and video mediums. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on design expertise, with responsibilities ranging from crafting creative briefs to coaching designers, managing budgets, and staying ahead of design trends. You’ll collaborate closely with account managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to translate business objectives into impactful visual solutions.

Essential Duties

  • Oversee the creative direction and quality of all designs, concepts, and projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the design team, pushing them to exceed creative boundaries.
  • Develop and present client-facing presentations to communicate and sell design concepts.
  • Conceptualize and execute high-quality designs, acting as the lead designer when necessary.
  • Manage and optimize budgets for creative projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with project managers and account managers to align creative outputs with client objectives.
  • Review and approve all creative deliverables, including graphic designs, wireframes, and video projects.
  • Create and refine creative briefs to provide clear direction to the design team.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and methodologies, integrating innovative approaches into projects.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all mediums by overseeing color palettes, typography, graphical elements, and photography styles.
  • Translate business objectives into compelling visual storytelling that meets client and end-user goals.
  • Balance multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and creativity.

Our work weeks typically range between 38 and 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and overtime. We use a timer to track our work hours, which is crucial for client billing, setting pricing, and reviewing job profitability. This process is mandatory at Connective.

Education, Skills, and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a creative leadership role, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse projects.
  • Expertise in modern design software, including Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of design principles and their application to print, digital, and video mediums.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and client-facing interactions.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana.
  • Ability to develop big ideas that address business challenges through strategic and creative solutions.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching designers to elevate their skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of brand alignment and visual storytelling principles.
