Connective is looking for a talented WordPress Developer, who will transform designs into responsive, high-performance websites using efficient coding practices. You’ll work directly in WordPress with Elementor, collaborating with project managers, account managers, and occasionally clients. Your role includes executing website updates, configuring plugins, troubleshooting issues, and launching websites that meet or exceed Google’s speed and core web vitals standards.

This is a remote position where you will be working 38 to 40 hours on weekdays, with very occasional weekend and overtime work.

Where You’ll Fit In: As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing WordPress websites with a strong focus on performance, responsiveness, and clean coding practices. You will collaborate with project managers, account managers, and occasionally clients to implement website updates, configure plugins, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless functionality.

While WordPress is the primary CMS, experience with Shopify, Squarespace, and other modern platforms is a plus. Your role will also involve website launches, quality assurance, and performance optimization to meet or exceed Google’s Core Web Vitals and speed standards.

• Develop and customize WordPress websites based on UX/UI designs, ensuring responsive and visually compelling layouts.
• Design and implement websites using Figma, Elementor, and other front-end tools.
• Manage the entire website design process, including SEO, speed optimization, and performance enhancements.
• Ensure all designs align with client objectives, brand standards, and modern design trends.
• Provide mentorship to junior web designers to enhance design quality and career growth.
• Write clean, efficient code using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Configure and customize WordPress plugins, including Elementor, WooCommerce, and Advanced Custom Fields.
• Optimize website performance, including fast load times, image compression, and adherence to Google’s Core Web Vitals.
• Manage website launches, backups, updates, and troubleshoot issues like broken functionality or plugin conflicts.
• Update websites with new pages and content while maintaining design consistency.
• Quickly learn and implement new WordPress plugins or CMS tools.
• (Bonus) Write custom PHP code for WordPress plugins.
• Balance multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Develop email templates for integration with email platforms.
• Ensure brand consistency across all web pages.
• Balance multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Our work weeks typically range between 38 and 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and overtime. We use a timer to track our work hours, which is crucial for client billing, setting pricing, and reviewing job profitability. This process is mandatory at Connective.

Education, skills, and experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• Expertise in front-end web development with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Excellence in the WordPress ecosystem, including plugin configuration and customization.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design principles.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving website issues.
• Ability to implement and optimize for Google’s speed and core web vitals standards.
• Familiarity with other CMS platforms such as Shopify and Squarespace.
• Experience developing custom WordPress plugins using PHP.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques, including image compression and caching strategies.
• Ability to develop email templates for email platforms.
• Basic design sensibility to maintain brand and design consistency across web pages.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
